Werribee River Association invites community members to submit their photos to this inaugural photo competition to showcase our local natural waterways, plants and animals, even insects and flowers…  it is a competition for all skill levels and open to locals – people who live, work or study in the City of Wyndham.

Entrants can upload up to 5 photos per category, using images the prize categories as creative prompts. You can only submit a maximum of 15 photos to enter this competition. Email to comps@werribeeriver.org.au

 

The categories include:

  • Best photo of a waterway in Wyndham (2 prizes awarded, $200 and $200).

Any photograph that includes a local waterway (river, creek, lake, wetland, beach etc.) in the City of Wyndham.

  • Best photo of native fauna & or flora in Wyndham (2 prizes awarded, $200 and $200)

Any photograph of native Australian plants and/or animals, such as birds, reptiles, insects, trees, grasses, flowering scrubs etc. that have been taken in the City of Wyndham.

  • Best image of people finding sanctuary in nature or practising good social distancing I the city of Wyndham ($200)

Any photographs of people getting exercise along (practising social distancing) or finding comfort and sanctuary in a local natural environment in Wyndham.

All photos that are during our current pandemic must comply with current COVID-19 regulations.

 

Entries open 1 June 2020 and close 1 October.

Winners will be announced on or before 15 October 2020 – on the Werribee River Association website, in the newsletter, and on the social media channels. Winners will be invited to attend a special event to acknowledge their contributions.

Nature in Wyndham Photo Comp – Terms and Conditions.

  1. This competition is run by Werribee River Association and is open to amateur photographers who live, work or study in the City of Wyndham. This excludes Werribee River Association Staff and Board members.
  2. An ‘amateur photographer’ is defined as someone who has earned less than $10,000 in the current or any past financial year from any photography related activity, including competitions, and/or does not hold themselves or represent themselves in any way, including on social media, as being a professional photographer.
  3. By entering this competition, you agree to accept these terms and conditions of entry. 
  4. To enter the competition, you must submit your photos by email to comps@werribeeriver.org.au between 1 June and 1 October 2020.  
  5. Your submissions must include your full name, address and contact phone number. A submission will be invalid without these full details.
  6. The competition allows for each person to submit 5 entries for each of the 3 categories. This means a maximum of 15 imagines per person.
  7. Imagines will not be returned at the end of the competition.
  8. All imagines sent must be in JPEG format. Please send no more than 5 images at once, no greater than 10MB per email.
  9. All photos that are taken during our current pandemic must comply with current COVID-19 regulations.
  10. Images must be the entrant’s own original work and be taken in the City of Wyndham.
  11. Images that include a person that is capable of being identified should obtain that person’s consent to be photographed and to enter the competition. 
  12. The competition will be judged by a panel of 3 judges. A total of five winners will be chosen. The total prize pool is valued at $1,000
  13. Winners will be announced on or before 15 October 2020 in the Werribee River Association newsletter, website and social media channels. Prize money will be distributed through electronic transfer. The winners will need to provide their banking details. Prizes are not transferable.
  14. Winners consent to the publication of their names on the Werribee River Association website, newsletter and social media pages.
  15. All entrants retain the copyright of their images.
  16. All entrants grant Werribee River Association the rights to use these imagines for promotional purposes only, i.e. on their website, social media, and in their annual report. They will not be used for the purpose of profit.
  17. Werribee River Association may, acting in its entire discretion, require winners to provide evidence of their identity or proof that they live, study, work or socialise in Wyndham.
  18. If for any reason the competition cannot be run as planned, Werribee River Association reserves the right, acting in its entire discretion, to cancel, terminate, modify or suspend the competition.
