Generations in Gaia: Cobbledick’s Ford

Generations in Gaia is Werribee River Association’s intergenerational conservation group, exploring the plants, animals and waterways of Wyndham through accessible walks and care for Country. The group runs the 2nd Tuesday of the month and is free to join, however bookings are required.

The next session will take place on Tuesday November 14, at Cobbledick’s Ford and we’re going eel crazy! Short-finned eels are found along the
length of Werribee River and these fascinating animals migrate from fresh water to salt to breed. They can travel up to 5000km to reach their destination! What a journey! The morning will include a presentation from our Education Manager, some eel-y activities, and a walk to the river to check out the newly erected fish passageway, helping eels and other migratory species pass over the ford.

Access to Cobbledicks Ford is located on Cobbledicks Ford Road, Mount Cottrell. Due to the closure of the crossing, it only accessible via Dukelows Rd, off Dohertys Rd.

Bring along some morning tea to share.
