Twilight Frog, Platypus & Bug BioBlitz!

Event description

Join us for an exciting evening by the Werribee River and Davis Creek as we explore the incredible biodiversity of Melbourne’s urban waterways. Spot, identify and record frogs, platypuses, and macroinvertebrates during this immersive, hands-on event! 

Why attend?

  • Discover the frogs and platypuses that call Werribee and Greater Melbourne home 🐸
  • Learn about macroinvertebrates and their role in supporting healthy waterways 🦟
  • Celebrate City Nature Challenge 2025 – Record sightings using Frog Census and PlatypusSPOT! 🔎

What’s on:

  • Platypus spotting session – Become an expert on how to spot a platypus and contribute sightings for City Nature Challenge 2025.
  • Macroinvertebrate discovery activity – Learn how these small but mighty critters support aquatic animals such as frogs and platypuses and are key indicators of waterway health!
  • Frog tour and recording – embark on a frog tour and learn how to identify species from their calls using the Frog Census app.

What to bring:

  • Smartphone with the Frog Census app downloaded
  • Comfortable outdoor clothing and enclosed sturdy shoes. Please check weather forecasts in lead up to the event. The event will still go ahead if raining 💧
  • Torch or headlight for evening spotting
Meeting point 📍

We will be meeting on the corner of Riversdale Drive and Lindrum Outlook on the Davis Creek Path by the wetland. Please arrive at 4:50pm for a prompt 5pm start.
