Water Quality Monitoring Workshop

Join us in the beautiful surrounds of Lake Dewar Discovery Camp at Myrniong for a workshop on local water quality issues, pollution sources, and how citizens can monitor and assess water quality. These factors can impact biodiversity including platypus and other inhabitants of the river.

After a brief presentation indoors, we will collect and analyse water samples, measure basic parameters (pH, turbidity, nutrients, dissolved oxygen, and temperature) and investigate the macroinvertebrate (waterbug) community.

We will then take a stroll and enjoy a guided walk overlooking this spectacular stretch of the Wirribi Yaluk/Werribee River before returning for light refreshments. Please advise of any dietary needs: [email protected]

Workshop free to attend, bookings essential.

This session will cover how to record and report findings, the importance of water quality in local ecosystems, and working with water quality monitoring kits for ongoing citizen science. Great for teachers and educators, local residents and landholders near rivers and waterways.

What to bring: Dress for the weather, wear suitable footwear for walking on uneven ground and bring a drinking water bottle.
