Werribee Drain Tour
Interested to learn more about our drainage system? Come on this tour with the Werribee Riverkeeper that will be a combination of a walking tour of 3km looking at several drains in the Werribee City Centre, then taking cars to 2 other locations, including viewing a modern wetland and swale treatments in the Riverwalk Estate.
Duration: up to 3 hours
Meet at Doolan Street, Werribee – at the Werribee River Access Point – along the Werribee River Trail.
The purpose of this tour will be to look at various stormwater drains in the CBD area of Werribee
- For aesthetics
- For litter control
- For water quality and pollution concerns
We also will be taking water samples and be using our multiparameter water metre to test these.
Our itinerary includes:
Stop 1: Revitalized drain Doolan St Woodlands
Stop 2: Steep Drain Purcell Close
Stop 3: Earth drain Chirnside Park Bowling Club
Stop4: Older drain, community led upgrade Hungry Jack’s
Stop 5: Two drains Comben Drive Werribee (take care to park right off road)
Pleasant walk back to cars, and drive on to stops 6 and 7.
Stop 6: Drain site adjacent off Geelong Rd Werribee
Stop 7: Waterway Reserve, Riverwalk Estate.
