How to get there?

Cobbledicks Ford Reserve is inaccessible via Cobbledicks Ford Rd off Ballan Rd (turn at the large water tanks). Access is currently limited to Dohertys Rd, off Boundary Rd. Taller vehicles and SUVs may be able to cross the ford (off Ballan Rd entrance) but smaller vehicles are not advised to cross if the water is across the road. Our Group Leaders will be on hand to assist if this is the case.

Our background of working in the reserve

WRA formed a partnership with the City of Wyndham in 2018 to create the ‘Friends of Cobbledick’s Ford (FOCF). Our inaugural event was a success on Thursday 17 May 2018, attracting 30+ volunteers and planting 500-600 tube stock of native grass in conjunction with Wyndham Council.

Prior to that, the Werribee River Association had been involved in:

  • Conducting walks in the reserve
  • Contributing to the Cobbledick’s Ford masterplan
  • Platypus observational surveys
  • Birdlife observations
  • Environmental flow observations
  • Wild Dog Gully exploration
  • Interest in the Parks Victoria Grassland Reserve
  • Litter clean-ups
  • Revegetation and rehabilitation

These working bees and field days continue to be instrumental in raising awareness of Cobbledick’s Ford Reserve, and its natural features.
