Pacific National’s proposal for Little River

Pacific National have lodged plans with the Victorian State Government to build an intermodal container terminal, that will result in concrete to over 350ha of important farming & grasslands, that is on land, part of the green wedge in Little River.

An intermodal terminal or hub is a facility able to move containers between different modes of transport, with storage space for containers waiting for the next leg of the journey. This proposal is likely to add 2 million shipping containers, numerous diesel trains each year and thousands of trucks to the quiet community of Little River.

Local residents are extremely concerned about the loss of village charm that this massive freight terminal would mean, plus the lack of consultation, environmental harm, and noise and light pollution.

Green wedges may include non-housing developments, but this proposal is just going too far, for the community, and for nature.
