Advocating for Water Quality
Using science, research, direct action, WRA works toward improving the water quality of the Werribee River and its waterways. We undertake research of water quality and pollution at several locations, which have impacts upon terrestrial and aquatic species and their habitat, along with human health and liveability. We also provide opportunities to leverage citizen science and advocate for upstream litter management, achieving greater community outreach.
The origins of the Werribee River Association began with calls from the community about the poor water quality, particularly around the township of Werribee.

WRA welcomes partnerships with researchers, scientists, government and non-government agencies working toward solutions. In 2022-24, our focus includes run-off from farms in Werribee South and improving drainage lines into the lower Werribee River.
