Tour of the Refuse Disposal Facility (aka Werribee Tip!)
Ever wondered what happens to our rubbish after the trucks take it from the curb-side?
Now is your chance to see the inside workings of the RDF!
The Werribee RDF is one of four major metropolitan landfills licensed to accept putrescible waste, such as household kerbside waste. It accepts over 940,000 tonnes of rubbish a year, from many municipal areas.
We will hear about how the RDF has evolved over the last 40 years, including what new measures have been adopted to maximise resource recovery and implement waste to energy technology.
We will be running two 40 minute tours on the day, utilising onsite vehicles. Places are extremely limited so please book early to ensure your spot. Maximum of 2 bookings per person, for ages 12+
