The Werribee River Association is very pleased to be announced as a shortlisted recipient in the 2024 Tidy Towns & Cities Awards in the Litter category.
Our work is a powerhouse of community activism, as we support an amazing 5 community led litter groups – Beach Patrol 3030, Love Our Street 3030 Werribee, Love Our Street 3029 Hoppers Crossing, Love Our Street 3029 Manor Lakes / Wyndham Vale and the Love Our Street 3030 Point Cook.
The mere tonnage of litter removed since the first group commenced 9 years is a staggering amount. And what’s more is we’ve counted and measured it, and reported it to government, using that data to strengthen our campaign to stop litter at source, to ban single use items, and to introduce a container deposit scheme.
We do all of this to protect our beautiful Werribee River and Port Phillip.
